16Ways Track Club had another meaningful season. As was tradition, the athletes participated in tiring practices; they competed in events small and large, and they won medals. There were accolades. However, 2024 was a season of the coaching staff recognizing and reinforcing the 16Ways motto, “It’s not about us. It’s about them. OUR youth; OUR future.” We had to say goodbye, with mixed emotion, to eight club members as they completed high school and committed to colleges. Their matriculation is a sign of progress, a sign that our mentoring is having positive effects.
There were other signs that our organization’s platform offers emotional inspiration for the youth we encounter. Track team member Dominic trusted us and overcame a fear of trying and tackling a new event, the hurdles. With unwavering encouragement from his parents and 16Ways staff, he faced the challenge and prepared for a few long-distance competitions. Dominic felt inspired when he realized that he could, in fact, overcome fears. Consequently, to his parents’ enthusiasm, he asked to be baptized and was on his birthday.
16Ways Foundation is committed to meeting young people where they are and working to help them realize their personal highest potential.
